About Building Biology Asia

Nature as our gold standard

Building Biology assesses a broad range of underlying factors in the built environment that affect our biological health and ecological wellness. It prioritises getting rid of harmful exposure that can lead to potential health issues for its occupants.

Biological buildings are sanctuaries in accordance with nature’s principles. Safe spaces to be free from pollutants, restore our selves, and be optimal and creative. For better spaces for us and our children. For vibrant communities and thriving ecologies.

Melanie Chua, BBEC, EMRS

I grew up in Singapore and the UK, and have had the benefit of experiencing firsthand multiple environmental sensitivities. I became certified as a Building Biologist in 2016. As a mother, I understand the value of having a biological and ecological home.

I blend building biology principles with conscious life-style to create environments that help you realise your fullest potential, whether you are a stay-at-home parent, a busy executive, or a business owner. With emphasis on the invisible fields of light, water, and electromagnetism, I merge science and design to create not only a beautiful space to be in, but one that helps you thrive.

I am also interested in anything that contributes to wellness and relational harmony. This includes child birth and development, gardening, astrology, hobbies with my family, outdoor activities, and taking care of myself with journaling, breathing practices, body awareness techniques.

I received my certifications from the Building Biology Institute (formerly International Institute for Bau-biologieTM and Ecology) in Santa Fe, New Mexico, USA—the first female Building Biologist in Asia to be certified by the BBI.

I’m available for online and in-person consultations, and educational talks and lectures.
